Thiago Silva will be a MASSIVE miss for Chelsea, there are no two ways about that.

Not only does he bring calmness and quality at the back, he is one of the few leaders we have in that team right now, and we all know how concerning that is and how it’s been negatively effecting our results and performances.

Silva will be out for about 3-6 weeks now depending on how quick and well he can recover.

The way he got injured was typical Silva and shows exactly what we will miss. He put his body on the line for the cause, and to make a last ditch tackle to stop a goal. He was literally bleeding blue, something that I only wish our entire squad do on a regular basis.

Wesley Fofana then came on to replace him and he looked rather reserved at the start, after then growing more into it. It’s sometimes hard to come on early as a substitute, especially as a centre back and replacing a world class player who is also the captain at the time. You know you have a huge void to fill.

But I believe that Fofana will now have an ideal chance to step up and his confidence will only grow more.

We have to remember, Fofana is still a young player at 22-years-old, and he now has a large price tag above his head.

But I really like the little I have seen from him so far, he certainly has that dog in him, and I think we will start to see it much more now he will have a run of starts. He has a massive chance to shine now and earn his regular starting Chelsea spot.

We all know his quality, we had grown used to seeing it on a regular basis for Leicester City. And Chelsea will now need him more than ever. Graham Potter and us fans need Fofana to now really grow into his Chelsea shirt and stand tall. In fact, we need all of our players to now do this, but Fofana’s position in this team has now become all so important with the absence of Silva.

We will also need Benoit Badiashile, who is likely to be Fofana’s regular partner, or at least that is what you’d hope. These two both have experience of playing alongside each other before in French youth sides, and they now have a big chance to form a great centre back partnership at Chelsea.

It’s really hard right now because the chips are down and their is a huge weight on top of Chelsea on the whole. But I’ve always said that the spine of the team is SO important, and Fofana can really step up as an important part of that spine here and now. We need him to take responsibility and boss that defence.

I have a lot of faith in him. He has a big chance now and I know he will take it. He has a top mentality, and Chelsea need that.
