Sevilla not interested in signing out-of-favour Barcelona attacker in January

In the past few days, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Barcelona forward Memphis Depay.

The 28-year-old is out of favour at Spotify Camp Nou and his sale in January is seen as important from the club’s point of view in their bid to achieve Fair Play so that they can sign new players and strengthen the squad.

With Depay’s future uncertain, reports suggested that Barcelona’s La Liga rivals Sevilla hold a strong interest in signing the Netherlands international and are determined to convince the forward to join the in the January transfer window.

However, according to a fresh report from Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla have no interest in signing Depay in the winter and they have taken no steps towards making a move for the Netherlands international happen.

The Andalusian club are in a bothersome situation and are looking to reinforce the squad in January to help manager Jorge Sampaoli drag them out of trouble. However, as things stand, Depay is not a target for the La Liga outfit.

It is claimed that Sevilla do not have the former Manchester United forward on their agenda due to sporting and economic reasons.

Depay himself is said to hold no interest in swapping Barcelona for Sevilla as he wishes to leave Camp Nou only for a top club.

The 28-year-old is being looked at by two of his former clubs in Manchester United and Lyon, while Newcastle United are also said to be interested. But, as things stand, Sevilla have no interest in signing Depay.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Dutch forward, but all things point towards him leaving Barcelona in the winter.
