Ben Foster admits that right after his Wrexham FC deal came through, Ryan Reynolds SLID into his DM’s to congratulate him and apologize for a previous incident.
Ben Foster coming back from retirement and joining Wrexham FC at an age of 40 is an exciting football story. And this is coming from someone who has had a fair share of his football intake. And the icing on the cake is that it happened when Wrexham is about to get promoted from the National League.
How it all happened with Ben Foster and Wrexham
The decision came after Wrexham FC goalkeeper Rob Lainton got injured while training and is out for six weeks. This means that Lainton won’t be able to play the rest of Wrexham’s campaign.
Wrexham’s coach opted to find a familiar face to replace Lainton.
Of course, Ben Foster has played for Wrexham before. During his time at Stoke City, Foster was loaned to Wrexham FC where he made 17 appearances.
In his latest appearance on Talksport Drive with Andy Goldstein, Ben Foster spilled some tea on what really happened. The 40-year-old keeper seemed on top of this world and was full of praise on how the Wrexham management and staff are treating him.
He went on to say that he will be meeting with Wrexham FC owner and Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds later that day.
When he was asked if Ryan Reynold spoke to him directly, Foster had the funniest of response.
“I think he is flying in today to come and watch the game on Saturday. He actually slid into my DM’s”
He also told Andy that he hadn’t even replied to him yet. Which had the host laughing in tears.
Let’s just hope that Ben Foster’s return to Wrexham is no short of laughs and fun. Wrexham FC plays York City today and this is where Ben Foster will make his second debut for the Wales club.
Will Wrexham continue to dominate in the National league and get promoted by the end of the season? Let us know in the comments.
