Eddie Howe has revealed that the ‘pain’ of Sunday’s cup final defeat has only ‘fired him up even more’ to bring success to Newcastle United, insisting he ‘won’t rest for a second’ in his pursuit to improve.

It is a breath of fresh air to have a manager who speaks with such positivity, knowledge and passion for the game, with Howe’s elite mentality shining through in his latest comments on last weekend’s heartbreak.

He’s urged his players to use the pain they felt when seeing Man Utd lift the trophy at Wembley and harness that positive, believing we can use this experience to boost our motivation levels and drive to succeed.

Howe accepts we ‘must improve’ but has big plans to ensure we do exactly that, vowing to not ‘rest for a second’ in his bid to deliver a trophy on Tyneside. Read his brilliant quotes below:

“Watching Man Utd lift the trophy was a pain you have to take and a pain you have to use. We have to absorb everything we’ve experienced.

“It only fires me up even more to try and be successful and try to drive the team forward.

“We’re by no means the finished article and we have a lot of work ahead of us. It only gets harder because the competition improves as well.

“We have to improve. We can’t stand still, we can’t think that we’re something at this moment in time, we have to prove we are and go again.

“I certainly won’t rest for a second in my pursuit to improve Newcastle.
