Manchester United will face Fulham in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup following their 3-1 fifth round victory over West Ham United on Wednesday.
The hosts had fallen behind at Old Trafford, before striker Wout Weghorst drew them level.
Alejandro Garnacho then put The Red Devils ahead as the clock ticked into added time, before Brazilian midfielder Fred added a third to ensure United progressed.
The result continues a good week for United boss Erik ten Hag, who guided his side to victory in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
The Manchester outfit also remain in contention to win the Premier League and feature in the last 16 of the Europa League.
Despite their recent success, it appears that United have been rejected by one of their transfer targets.
As per Sport 1 via The Express, Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has snubbed the opportunity to join United and will instead move to Germany and sign for Eintracht Frankfurt this summer.
The midfielder’s contract with Lyon expires this summer and the Frenchman will therefore be available on a free transfer, but United appear to have missed out on the chance to sign the 24-year-old.
Back in 2020, Aouar was the subject of at least two bids from Arsenal but the Premier League side only offered £33 million, around £12 million less than Lyon were demanding.
Back then, both Barcelona and Juventus were said to be interested in the midfielder, who is a product of Lyon’s youth academy.
Since making his senior debut back in 2017, Aouar has made more than 220 appearances for Lyon, scoring 41 goals and providing 36 assists in that time.
As he has less than six months remaining on his current deal, Aouar is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club and it appears that he has done so.
The player did reject a number of other offers, including one from United, the report claims.
It is also claimed that The Red Devils looked into the possibility of signing Aouar on deadline day, before eventually landing Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich.
