Brendan Rodgers made a number of changes for the 5th round FA Cup fixtures vs. Blackburn, and he was punished hard as his judgement regarding certain players never ended up as expected.
Blacburn under their Danish “headmaster” Jon Dahl Tomasson managed to surprise Brendan Rodgers and Leicester with his offensive approach, but still Leicester were the dominating team in play.
The sitution for Leicester at present is grim, as players make fatal errors in eareas of the field that they should understand are not a place to do errors of that type as we did see massive mistakes happen as Blackburn took the lead after 30 minutes. 21 year old Tyrhys Dolan, an England U.20 international, scored the goal. A massive error pass from Daniel Amartey was snapped up and a powerful run towards the goal and a great placed shot from Dolan opened the scoring.
Leicester had their troubles and stumbled on as they tried to get the game back on track, but instead Blackburn attacked again and just minutes into the 2nd half Sammy Szmodics scored Blackburn’s second as they suddenly were 2-0 up and a home disaster looked on from the point.
Leicester managed to pull one back with a nice run and assist from Harvey Barnes finding Kelechi Iheanacho in front of goal as he added to his amazing tally of FA Cup goals, taking his total to 18 in 24 games, as fans got something to celebrate.
Fromt that point Leicester pushed on, and the nearest was a post header from Daniel Amartey late in the game, but it was Blackburn who had the upper hand during the full game.
Daniel Iversen had to show his qualities and as Brendan Rodgers said, the goalkeeper was the man of the match, and hopefully we will see more of Iversen in the games coming up in the league, but again a poor, poor performance from the team as they struggled.
Leicester are out of the FA Cup and only have the Premier League to concentrate on for the rest of the season and it might be the best outcome as BR hopefully will be able to play his best players going forward.
