The Saudi Football Federation has announced that the National Team head coach Hervé Renard has left his position by mutual consent.

In an official statement, the Saudi FF revealed that Renard has expressed his desire in terminating his contract and not continuing his journey with the Green Falcons.

“The Saudi Football Federation board members have accepted the National Team head coach Hervé Renard’s request to terminate his contract,” the statement read.

“Accordingly, the two sides agree to part ways by mutual consent. We would like to wish him the best in his career,”

Renard was appointed Saudi Arabia’s manager in July 2019 as he led the Green Falcons during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. In their opening game, the Saudis sealed a historic 2-1 victory over eventual champions Argentina.

The Frenchman also became the foreign-born manager with the most wins in Saudi Arabia’s history with 18 wins.

Following, his departure, Renard sent a message to Saudi Arabia Federation, players, and fans thanking them for their support during his reign as the Falcons’ manager

“I’d like to thank all the people who supported me during this very good time in Saudi Arabia. It is never easy to take this kind of decision, but I’d like to thank the government, the minister of support, and of course a special thanks to the head of Federation, Yaser  Al Misehal,”

“I’d like also to say thank you to all members of the staff, especially my local assistant Mohamed Amin who was exceptional,”

“After a successful qualifying campaign where we finished above Japan and Australia, we had an amazing experience in Qatar. We started with a game against Argentina which will stay forever in the memory of the Saudi people,”

“I am wishing you all the best, especially for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup in Qatar. I will support you, and I am sure if I am able to be in the stands, I will be there, because you will forever be in my heart,”

Renard has been heavily linked with France Women’s National Team head coach following the sack of Corinne Diacre.
