According to reports in Italy, Inter Milan are considering a surprise move for Loris Karius; who could leave on a free transfer this summer after signing a six-month extension back in January.

With Samir Handanovic set to leave at the end of the season, FC Inter News report that the Serie A giants have shortlisted the 29-year-old, aware of the fact his girlfriend Diletta Leotta – already working as a presenter in Italy – could convince him to make the move.

The former Liverpool stopper made his first appearance in almost two years in Sunday’s cup final defeat to Man Utd and put in a solid display, making good stops to deny the likes of Weghorst, Rashford and Fernandes.

The fact his girlfriend is already working in Italy, covering Serie A games for DAZN, could play a huge factor in helping Karius decide his next move.

That said, Newcastle could yet offer him a new deal if they believe he is a good enough option to play back-up to Nick Pope, allowing us to move on the likes of Martin Dubravka and and/or Karl Darlow for a fee.

It may not have a huge impact on Newcastle moving forward, but to have someone of Karius’ quality ready on the bench would be great for our depth. His solid performance on Sunday proves he’s still got plenty to give.
