Borussia Monchengladbach lower asking price for Liverpool target Kouadio Kone
According to Sport Bild, via Gladbach Live (h/t Liverpool Echo), Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach have reduced the asking price of midfielder Kouadio Kone, who is linked with Liverpool.
Gladbach has reduced their valuation of the player from £39m to £26m. It is claimed that the funds received from selling the midfielder will help them in rebuilding the side in the summer after losing Marcus Thuram and Remy Bensebaini for free.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are one of the clubs along with Bayern Munich, Newcastle United and Paris-Saint German who are interested in the 21-year-old. He has been one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga for the last 18 months.

Kone, the Toulouse youth product, is predominantly a central midfielder who can operate as an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder. Since arriving at Gladbach in 2021, he has four goals and two assists to his name in 51 appearances, 33 of them coming in central midfield, mostly in a double pivot.
In terms of attributes, the 21-year-old is an excellent passer of the ball. He works hard off it, covers the ground at a rapid pace and can dribble past people in tight areas.

The Liverpool midfield this season has lacked most of those qualities. Recently, we have seen Stefan Bajcetic inject some pace and ball movement of high quality, but others are struggling and getting old too.

We know there is a midfield reshuffle coming up at Anfield in the summer. While Jude Bellingham is the primary target and he will cost a lot, getting Kone for £26m would be a shrewd business. The 21-year-old can improve our midfield and is young enough to get even better compared to what he is right now.
