Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed the club are planning to sit down and discuss Jude Bellingham’s future with the player after the World Cup.
The 19-year-old has become one of the most exciting talents in the world since joining the German club from Birmingham in 2020 and has attracted interest from nearly every European giant – Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain have all reached out in recent months.
90min understands that Dortmund are confident that Bellingham will not push for an exit and may even opt to stay at the club for at least one more season.
However, Watzke has conceded that Dortmund may be powerless to compete with the financial strength of some of his suitors.
“I think as soon as Qatar is over, we’re going to have a basic conversation about what he actually wants,” Wazke told BILD. “With him, with his parents, with whom we have a very close relationship and of course with his advisor.
“And then he should just tell us whether he wants to stay or whether he wants to go. Either way, we’ll discuss it pleasantly and reasonably.
“But we don’t have to pretend that the topic isn’t on the table. When the really big [teams] are there, we can’t afford to fight financially either.”
